Austria has a decent sized metal scene, but I am not overly familiar with that many of the country's bands. Hollenthon though is a truly interesting group. The band blends a multitude of genres together including symphonic and folk elements mixed with a blackened/death/thrash foundation. Hollenthon definitely has a unique sound. Symphonic metal is a difficult thing to get right, but Hollenthon manages to pull it off by focusing on darkness and not the light.HONORABLE MENTIONS:
