My 100 Favorite Metal Bands Pt. 3: Akercocke

I did mention Akercocke on this blog some time ago. The band plays a bizarre combination of black and death metal with progressive song structures. There are a lot of seemingly unrelated passages running through the music, but it all strangely holds together quite well. On top of all this, Akercocke writes some extremely intelligent lyrics, mostly focusing on Satanism and the occult, but nevertheless surprisingly good. This is not a group of dumb teens invoking Satan for the shock factor. Akercocke attacks the source material from a scholarly point of view. The band even look the part.

FAVORITE ALBUM: WORDS THAT GO UNSPOKEN, DEEDS THAT GO UNDONE
