Swamp: Underground Manifesto (2014)

I first heard Swamp around the same time I heard Fetid Zombie for the first time.  The bands were on a split together and I was blown away by both sides.  But where I was able to track down a significant number of additional Fetid Zombie releases, this is the first additional material I have found by Swamp.

Swamp is a Greek band who combines black and thrash metal in a raw and primitive style.  It is a decidedly old-school style with a lot of pure aggression.  There is a slogan on the back of the album that says "No NU, no Prog, No gay...Old-school & Raw we have to Stay!!!" (punctuation and capitalization all theirs), and that is exactly what this is.  Swamp lives up to that. 

Swamp is an intriguing band.  It is a shame the band has yet to release a follow-up full-length to this album yet.  This album does not really do anything new, but it shows a remarkable ability to keep raw, primal metal fresh.
