Happy Halloween: Here's Some Lovecraftian Album Art

I love the works of H.P. Lovecraft.  I know that I am not alone among metalheads in that.  So here is some cover art clearly influenced by the works of H.P. Lovecraft.  Some of these are obviously Lovecraft's creatures, others just have the same feel.

Today's post is all about thrones. Thrones appear on metal album covers a lot, mostly for the symbolism of power that inherently goes with the throne. So here are some examples:

Inspired by this post from Kelly at Full Metal Attorney, I wanted to do a post showing off some cover art from my favorite artist, Dan Seagrave. Zombies are big lately. They have become something of a pop culture phenomenon. It has not always been that way though. However, in heavy metal, they have always been present. Here's a sampling of the albums in my collection with zombies on the cover.

The Grim Reaper has been the subject of many album covers. This is most likely due to the dark nature of the character, the collector of souls. Here's a sample of the album covers the Grim Reaper has appeared on:








As terrifying as the Grim Reaper may be though, this is way more terrifying. This is our year-and-a-half old blue heeler, The Reaper.
